Merry Christmas - cough, cough, sniffle, sniffle

So, I love Christmas. Always have and always will. But lately (meaning the last 5 years or so - and yes, my eldest son is 5), it just hasn't been the same. As a child, I remember it being so magical and fun. It was just idyllic. I really though that would be the way it was at my house too. Well, I'm here to say NOT SO MUCH!
Every Christmas since Zachary was born, someone has been sick. In fact, the first year he was alive, we spent in the urgent care because he was so sick. I know kids are little petrie dishes but COME ON! And, that's just kind of the way it has unfolded in years since. But this year, was the Christmas to end all Christmases in terms of illness.
It started out with me getting strep throat the week before and because Demian was really busy at work and I couldn't really rest, it turned into strep PLUS a sinus infection. As Christmas approached, Joshua had to go to the doctor for an ear infection and Zachary kept saying his stomach hurt. For the grand finale, I spent Christmas Day in the emergency vet clinic with the cat, while Demian started coming down with a viral sore throat. FUN! Tis the freaking season - that's all I have to say.
Since Christmas, Demian has been to the doctor twice, once to his GP and once to the ENT for an ear infection. Joshua has been to the doctor twice as well for sinus infections and I have given up on the holiday spirit. I love Christmas, always have and always will, but I think it's about time for everyone to go back to school and work. I'm sick and tired of everyone being sick and tired.
Bah Humbug!
