Book Excerpt

I’m writing a book about my postpartum experience in journal form. Below is an excerpt. Can anyone relate to this? Please tell me I’m not the only one:
9/10/02
All day I dither around the house tripping over toys and bottles while trying to prevent certain death of my baby and toddler. I have dared to pee and/or poop alone, and this is what I have seen when I exit the bathroom:
Parker shoving a fluffy doll in Paige’s face.
Parker galloping a plastic horse all over Paige’s body.
Parker yanking on Paige’s wrists and ankles to make Paige play with her.
Parker grabbing Paige’s head and trying to pick her up.
Parker falling down the stairs because she’s carrying a plastic grocery cart.
Parker opening the front the door for the first time and walking into the driveway.
Parker slapping Paige on the face, then saying, “Shh—Shh—Shh!”
So now I’m stuck going to the bathroom with an infant in the Baby Bjorn and a toddler staring at me asking if it’s coming out okay. This is not new of course, but I just dared to try going alone for the first time since Paige was born. Apparently it’s not possible.
