Take a rain check

There will be times when it is busy and your son or daughter asks to do something and you can’t. It happens all the time. Take a rain check. We have 3x5 note cards in a magnetic container on our fridge that says, “Makegood” on it. If I’m making dinner and Paige asks to play babies, I say, “I need to make dinner now, but how about I make good on it after dinner?” So she’ll write it out, “Play babies with Paige” and plop it in the makegood container. Then when we have downtime, I grab one of the cards and bring it to her asking if she still wants me to make good on it. Trust me, it eases the guilt of having a busy life.
